These terms are a contract between your club and us. They cover how you use PBTable, what you pay, and what each of us is responsible for. We've kept them as short and plain as we can — please read them before you subscribe.
The short version
This summary isn't the contract — the numbered sections below are — but it's the gist:
- You pay a subscription to use PBTable. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- If a payment fails and stays unpaid, we may pause your club's board until it's sorted.
- We look after the platform and do our best to keep it running, but we can't promise it will never go down.
- You own your club's member data. We own PBTable and the RDR rating engine.
- RDR ratings are calculated automatically and provided as-is — a useful guide, not an official ranking.
- The only money you pay us is your subscription. Money between your club and your members only comes into it if you switch on the optional booking system — and even then it goes straight to your club's own Stripe account, never to us.
- Our financial liability to you is capped (see section 10).
- You can leave whenever you like and take your data with you.
1. Who we are, and who these terms are between
PBTable is provided by Paul Berry, trading as Nexlane ("Nexlane", "we", "us"), of 6 Dew Way, Calne, SN11 8HD.
"You" or "your club" means the club that subscribes to PBTable. The person who accepts these terms confirms they're authorised to do so on the club's behalf.
These terms apply from the moment you accept them (by ticking the box at checkout) and for as long as you use PBTable.
2. Your plan and what you pay
- Your plan, price and billing cycle (monthly or annual) are the ones shown at checkout when you subscribe.
- Payment is taken through Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method for each billing period.
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Annual plans are paid for the year upfront.
- Prices may change. We'll always tell you by email before a change affects you, and never mid-term on an annual plan — any change takes effect at your next renewal.
- Our fees are inclusive of tax. Nexlane isn't VAT-registered, so no VAT is charged. If that ever changes, we'll show any VAT clearly on your invoice.
- The only payment you make to us is your subscription. PBTable doesn't handle any money between your club and your members unless you choose to switch on the optional booking system — and even then that money never comes to us (see section 9).
3. If a payment fails
If a renewal payment fails, we'll retry it and email you so you can update your details.
If it's still unpaid 14 days after the due date, we may pause your club's board — your players will see it's temporarily unavailable, but we keep all your data safe and restore everything the moment payment goes through. If a subscription stays unpaid for 30 days, we may treat it as cancelled (see section 11). We won't delete anything at the pause stage.
4. What you can expect from us
We'll provide PBTable with reasonable care and skill, and we work hard to keep it available and running well. That said, PBTable is built and maintained by a small team, and updates are deployed manually. So:
- We don't offer a guaranteed uptime figure or a formal service-level agreement. We aim for the service to be available, but there will be occasional downtime for maintenance, updates, or things outside our control.
- We'll give reasonable notice of planned downtime where we can.
- We provide support by email and respond as promptly as we reasonably can.
5. The RDR rating — provided "as-is"
PBTable calculates an RDR (Rally Doubles Rating) for players from the results your club enters. It's designed to be a fair, transparent reflection of recent form, and it involves modelling and judgement calls in how it weighs results. Because of that, RDR ratings are provided "as-is" and as a guide only:
- We don't warrant that a rating is "correct", complete, or fit for any particular purpose — including selection, seeding, official ranking, or anything a member might dispute.
- How your club uses RDR ratings, and any decisions you make from them, are your club's responsibility.
- More broadly, PBTable is provided without any warranty that it will meet your specific requirements or be error-free, except as expressly set out in these terms and to the extent the law doesn't allow us to exclude such warranties.
6. Who owns what
- We own PBTable — the software, the platform, the RDR rating engine and algorithm, the design, and everything we've built. Subscribing gives your club a licence to use it while your subscription is active; it doesn't transfer any ownership to you.
- You own your club's data — your members' details and your club's results and records are yours. You give us permission to host and process that data so we can run the service for you, in line with our Data Processing Agreement (see section 7).
- If you send us feedback or suggestions, we're free to use them to improve PBTable, with no obligation to you.
7. Data and privacy
How we handle your members' personal data is set out in our Data Processing Agreement (DPA), which forms part of your agreement with us. When you accept these terms, you also accept the DPA. Please read it — it covers our roles, security, sub-processors, data-subject rights, breach notification, and what happens to data when you leave.
8. Acceptable use
To keep PBTable safe and fair for everyone, you agree that you'll:
- Give accurate information and keep your login details secure.
- Only use PBTable for running your own club, and not resell, sublicense, or provide it as a service to others.
- Not upload unlawful, harmful, or abusive content, or anyone's personal data you don't have the right to use.
- Not attempt to copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to the platform or the RDR engine.
If a club breaches these terms, or uses PBTable in a way that risks harm to others or to the platform, we may suspend access while we look into it. We'll tell you why, and restore access once it's resolved.
9. Member bookings and payments — only if you switch booking on
This entire section applies only if your club chooses to use the optional member booking system and connects its own Stripe account. If you don't use booking, none of section 9 applies to you — and the only money involved in PBTable is your subscription to us under section 2.
When booking is enabled:
- Money goes to your club, not to us. Member payments and paid credits are processed through your club's own connected Stripe account. The payment is between your club and your member. Nexlane is not a party to it, holds no money on your behalf, and never takes a float or a cut of member payments.
- Stripe's fees and terms apply. Your use of Stripe is governed by your own agreement with Stripe, and Stripe's processing fees are deducted from payments to your club.
- Refunds, chargebacks and disputes with your members are your club's responsibility to handle, using the tools we and Stripe provide. We're not responsible for member disputes, refunds, or chargebacks, and we're not liable for the underlying payments.
- Unspent member credits. Any credits a member has bought but not used are money your club owes its members — it sits in your club's Stripe balance, not with us. Your club is responsible for honouring, using up, or refunding unspent credits, including if you stop using PBTable or a member leaves. We provide the software that tracks credits; we don't hold the funds and aren't responsible for settling them.
- We provide the booking and credits software with reasonable care, but the same "as-is" and liability terms in sections 4, 5 and 10 apply.
10. Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability for anything that can't be limited by law — for example death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Subject to that:
- Our total liability to your club, for everything connected with PBTable and these terms in any 12-month period, is capped at the total subscription fees your club paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
- We're not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, loss of goodwill, loss of expected savings, or loss of data beyond our routine backups.
- If your club uses the booking system, we're not liable for member payments, refunds, chargebacks or disputes under section 9, or for the acts of third parties such as Stripe, our hosting or email providers, or your internet connection.
- We're not responsible for losses caused by your own breach of these terms, or by how your club chooses to use RDR ratings or run its sessions.
11. Ending your subscription, and leaving
- You can cancel any time. Your subscription then runs to the end of the period you've already paid for, and won't renew. We don't give pro-rata refunds for the unused part of a period.
- We can end or suspend your subscription by giving you 30 days' notice, or immediately if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, don't pay, or misuse the platform.
- Taking your data with you. Before your access ends, you can export your club's data. After your subscription ends, we'll retain and then delete your data in line with the DPA. If you'd like a final export, just ask.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time — for example as PBTable grows or the law changes. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email. We version these terms, and continuing to use PBTable (or renewing) after a change means you accept the current version. The version that applies to you is the one you accepted, until you accept a newer one.
13. Governing law
These terms, and any dispute connected with them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
